Creating a custom bubble ring in 9ct gold and recycled sterling silver is a meticulous process that involves skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail. In this particular project, the ring features a combination of precious gemstones including a 5.2mm ruby, 5mm amethyst, 3mm moissanite, and a 3.2mm sapphire. The rings are intended to serve as both a wedding ring and an engagement ring, each with its own unique design elements.

The wedding ring consists of a soldered dual band made from silver and gold. It houses the bezel set ruby, amethyst, and moissanite, providing a secure setting for each gemstone. The engagement ring, on the other hand, features the sapphire and has a single band design. Both rings have been given a hammered texture for added visual interest and finished with a brush finish to enhance their overall appearance.

In this project, the customer provided their own precious metals from jewellery that had never been worn. The ruby was also sourced from the customer’s old jewellery, while the sapphire, amethyst, and moissanite were supplied by Westermoy Jewellery. The ruby and moissanite were set in 9ct gold bezels to complement their colour and value, while the amethyst and sapphire were set in sterling silver bezels for a cohesive look.

The entire process of creating these custom bubble rings took approximately five working days to complete. This timeline includes sourcing the gemstones, designing the rings based on the customer’s specifications, crafting the bands with the desired textures and finishes, setting each gemstone securely in its designated bezel setting, and ensuring that both rings met the quality standards expected by the customer.
